“Kayte is one of the best photographers you’ll find out there, in my humble opinion.
She works with the client to bring the vision to life and will go above and beyond to make sure you feel heard, comfortable and represented the way you want to be.”

EXPLORE MY WORK

Each session tells a unique story

What Is Conceptual & Storytelling Photography?

Most photos capture a moment. These create one.

Conceptual storytelling starts with an idea — then we build everything around it.

Location, styling, mood, narrative arc. Nothing is random. Everything is intentional.

We meet and build the story or concept behind your shoot. We work together from the mood board, outfit, location, angles and final output.

If you like unique, weird, dark and twisted – then a conceptual shoot would be perfect.

Love story? Personal growth story? Brand story? Then a storytelling shoot is just what you need.

Concept First

We start with your idea, theme, or feeling. Not a backdrop and a smile.

Built together

You're the co-creator. Mood boards, styling, location — we figure it out as a team.

A cohesive body of work

Your gallery works as a set. Each image connects to the story we built.

Kayte Von, conceptual storytelling photographer

I’m Kayte — photographer, creative, and lifelong outsider who eventually found her people. I’ve spent over 20 years behind a camera because I genuinely cannot imagine doing anything else. Not because photography is what I do. Because it’s how I see the world.

Studio Von YEG started as a name, but it became a philosophy: anywhere and everywhere is our studio. A creepy forest. A brick alley. A swampy lagoon at golden hour. Your kitchen at 2am. If it tells your story, it’s the right place.

If you've ever been told you're too much, too weird, too dark, too niche — you're exactly who I'm here for.

I’m a conceptual storytelling photographer — which means I’m less interested in making you look pretty and more interested in making you feel something. Every shoot starts with an idea. A mood. A concept we build together from the ground up. Mood boards, location scouting, styling conversations — the prep is part of the art.

I’m not here to be your expert. I’m here to be your collaborator. I’ve been published in magazines, newspapers, album covers, and patches. I’ve been doing this for over two decades. And I’m still learning, still evolving, still chasing the shoot that makes someone look at their photos and say “is that actually me?”

stories worth telling

Dark. Dreamy. Funny. Strange. Deeply personal. Wildly absurd.

All of it is welcome here.

2026

I’m so proud of my growth. I’m a storytelling photographer who moves fluidly between candid, portrait, and editorial work. I’ve been published many times, my photography is on shirts, album covers, patches, in magazines and more. I can’t wait to see how I grow.

2023

In 2023, I made a commitment to myself and launched Studio Von YEG—building the photography community I always wanted to be part of. After so much life change I decided to chose myself, to love myself and to become the photographer I always dreamed of.

2014

In a bit of a midlife crisis ( at 25yrs old) I bought a new camera… I personally love the Lumix line so I stayed true to it and grabbed the Lumix GH4.

I started with taking photos and videos of personal travel, then slowly started to take photos for friends and family.

2005

I tried going “professional”, only to find an industry drowning in gossip and toxicity where everyone suddenly had a camera but few had pride in their work.

So I stepped back, kept shooting for the love of it, and quietly got better.

2004

Music photography became my heartbeat early on, and for years I was the friend with the camera: parties, concerts, travel, behind-the-scenes of film sets.

2003

At 14 I dove headfirst into film photography and darkroom development alongside my sister at our local college.

After saving up for a Lumix DMC-G1, I decided I wanted to become a photographer.

I had zero clue how digital worked—so I just figured it out.
